Synopsis
Arms and the Man by George Bernard Shaw is a satirical play that challenges romantic notions of war and heroism. It follows Raina, a young Bulgarian woman, who shelters a Swiss soldier, Bluntschli, during the Serbo-Bulgarian War. Bluntschli's practical, unheroic views on war contrast sharply with the idealism of Raina and her fiancé, Sergius. Through witty dialogue and irony, Shaw criticizes the absurdity of war and blind patriotism. The play ends with Raina choosing Bluntschli, representing realism over illusion.
